Australia Day at Lake Weeroona was a heartwarming celebration of community and connection. Hosted by the City of Greater Bendigo and the Rotary Club of Bendigo Sandhurst, the event was filled with family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and the much-loved Rotary Market.

This year’s ceremony was especially moving as the 2025 Citizen of the Year, Glenda Serpell, and Young Citizen of the Year, Pollyanna Smith, were honored for their outstanding contributions. Glenda, founder of Sunshine Bendigo, has positively impacted the lives of over 7,400 children through her charity work, while Pollyanna, a proud Wiradjuri woman, has inspired countless young people through Girl Guides and local volunteering.
Mayor Andrea Metcalf, who officiated the event alongside Epsom Ward councillors, commended both recipients for their dedication and community spirit. “Their work is truly inspiring and highlights the incredible talent and passion we have in Greater Bendigo,” she shared.

Families enjoyed a sunny day by the lake with delicious BBQ, interactive displays, and activities celebrating Australia’s rich multicultural heritage and resilient community spirit. This free event showcased everything that makes Bendigo special: generosity, connection, and joy.
