The 4th Annual Eaglehawk Film Festival lit up Bendigo from January 17 to 19, 2025, offering a fresh take on traditional festivals. Hosted by the beloved Star Cinema at Eaglehawk Town Hall, this year’s theme, “Alive,” captivated audiences with its deep exploration of life’s vibrancy through a collection of remarkable films.
The festival opened with the gripping 1993 bio-thriller Alive, followed by six films from around the globe. Audiences journeyed through time and culture with a delightful 1958 UK comedy, a heart-wrenching Korean drama from 2014, and a poignant Albanian story from 2009, among others. “This year, we’ve truly embraced the essence of being alive with films that are both thrilling and reflective,” said Martin Myles, Star Cinema’s business manager.
Eaglehawk proved itself once again as more than just a festival venue. Visitors soaked in the town’s charm, with its unique shops, cafes, and historic landmarks adding to the magic of the weekend. “We hope attendees also explored Eaglehawk’s hidden gems between screenings,” Myles added.
