The Zinda Festival Bendigo brought together food, music, and art from across the globe! The vibrant celebration on 12 October was a lively showcase of multicultural joy, attracting visitors from across the region.
On Saturday, 12 October 2024, the Garden for the Future in White Hills was transformed into a multicultural wonderland as the Zinda Festival returned to Bendigo. Organized by Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services and supported by the City of Greater Bendigo, the festival was a day-long celebration of the rich and diverse cultures that make up our region. This year’s festival featured a wide array of music, dance, food, and art, with performances from across the globe, making it the perfect family outing.
Attendees enjoyed the lively beats of multicultural music, including drumming sessions and dynamic performances. “It’s amazing to see the different cultures come together here. You feel the energy and excitement in the air,” shared one attendee. Food vendors offered flavors from every corner of the world, giving visitors the opportunity to savor international dishes, from spicy curries to Mediterranean sweets.
One of the festival highlights was the Multicultural Story Time, hosted by Ras Ato, a charismatic MC from Ghana, who shared stories from his childhood followed by an interactive djembe drum session. Children and adults alike were immersed in the rhythm, making for an unforgettable experience.
With free parking, courtesy of Bendigo Lions Club, and sunny weather, the festival drew crowds throughout the day. The Zinda Festival continues to be a vibrant celebration of Bendigo’s growing diversity, reminding everyone how important community and culture are to regional Victoria’s identity.
