The More You Know
The Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) has made its return to Star Cinema in Bendigo, offering a spectacular two-weekend lineup of films from Australia and beyond. Running on August 16-18 and 23-25, MIFF’s program features 10 remarkable feature films, offering a wide range of genres and stories that celebrate cinema’s ability to inspire, challenge, and entertain.
Kicking off on Friday, August 16, the festival opens with Memoir of a Snail, a beautifully crafted claymation from Oscar-winner Adam Elliot, featuring voice talents like Sarah Snook and Eric Bana. Over the next few days, audiences will enjoy highlights such as Thelma, a heartwarming comedy about a 93-year-old on a quest to recover her money, and Flathead, an introspective Australian film blending documentary and fiction. The second weekend promises equally captivating entries, including Queens of Concrete, a documentary about female skateboarders in Australia, and Magic Beach, an enchanting adaptation of Alison Lester’s beloved children’s book.
Star Cinema offers a perfect venue for these films, nestled in the historic Eaglehawk Town Hall. With tickets ranging from $17 to $21, it’s an accessible event for all cinema lovers.
“Star Cinema and MIFF continue to bring world-class film experiences to our local community—don’t miss out on the chance to witness these powerful stories unfold on the big screen.”
