The Vegecareian Festival 2024 lit up The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion on October 5th, as families, friends, and animal lovers gathered to celebrate the beauty of vegetarianism, community, and sustainability. Running from 10am to 3pm, this free event offered something for everyone, from food stalls and cooking demos to animal blessings and engaging talks.
The festival highlighted the global flavors of vegetarian cuisine, with MasterChef Australia stars Diana Chan and Dee Williams hosting cooking demonstrations that attracted eager crowds. Meanwhile, Costa Georgiadis, the charismatic presenter of ABC’s Gardening Australia, inspired attendees with his passion for sustainable living and care for the environment.
One of the festival’s most touching moments was the animal blessing ceremony, where visitors could bring their furry companions to be blessed by a monk inside the serene and impressive Great Stupa. Children were entertained with a range of activities, ensuring a fun-filled day for all.
