The More You Know
The Robots are Coming! exhibition at Dudley House offers a captivating look at the intersection of art, artificial intelligence, and robotics. From June 14 to June 24, visitors can explore works by artists from Central Victoria, curated by multimedia artist Ivan Sun. This free exhibition features a variety of mediums, including 2D and 3D art, sculptures, ceramics, video installations, and augmented reality experiences.
“Technology has made life easier, but at what cost?” asks Kain White through his oil on canvas pieces, “Human Resource No. 543794” and “Design #29304.” White’s works question the implications of AI taking over human roles. Bridie O’Toole’s “Evolution,” a digital print on aluminium, further delves into the philosophical aspects of creation and creator. Her pieces reflect a continuous evolution in her artistic expression, capturing her inner thoughts and emotions.
John O’Loughlin’s ceramic works, “Arm Reliquary for an Aged Robot Saint” and “Arm Reliquary for a Robot Martyr,” explore faith and belief in the age of AI. These pieces draw a parallel between religious relics and the future sanctification of robots, raising profound questions about life after death in a technologically advanced era.
“This exhibition captures a pivotal moment in history,” says Ivan Sun. “We are at the cusp of significant changes due to AI and robotics, and this collection of works reflects both the excitement and uncertainty of this era.”
Artists like Aimee Chapman, Julia Day, and Paul Fletcher contribute to this unique display, offering pieces that provoke thought and discussion about the future. The exhibition also includes a digital time capsule, preserving messages and artworks to be opened in 12 years, providing a snapshot of contemporary perspectives on technology’s evolution.
Julie Amos, Manager of Bendigo Venues & Events, highlights the significance of this event: “The Robots are Coming! is a thought-provoking exhibition that not only showcases local talent but also invites the community to engage in meaningful dialogue about the future.”
