The More You Know
Bendigo transformed into a winter wonderland for the school holidays with the much-anticipated “Stars on Ice” event from June 28 to July 14. Hargreaves Mall featured a 20 x 10 metre pop-up ice skating rink, a first in the heart of Bendigo. Open daily from 10am to 9pm, each skate session ran for 45 minutes, offering fun for all ages.
Mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf highlighted the importance of this event, stating, “We are delighted to announce this new activation for the Mall and look forward to it bringing a range of people, day and night, into the city centre. It will be like our very own Christmas in July.”
Ticket prices were set to be affordable, with rates including skate hire. Adults skated for $24, children and concessions for $19, toddlers for $15, and families for $68. Group rates and penguin pal hire were also available. The rink, designed to withstand all weather conditions, ensured that the fun continued rain or shine.
Parallel to the skating rink, Rosalind Park hosted the Electric Wonderland light show, celebrating the Lunar Year of the Dragon. From June 28 to July 14, visitors enjoyed light installations, interactive pathways, and a 40m replica of the Sacred Heart Cathedral. This dual attraction brought vibrancy and excitement to Bendigo, making it a premier destination for winter holiday fun.
