The Bendigo Ford Fun Run on March 2, 2025, drew over 2,500 participants, solidifying its place on Australia's running calendar. With new events and scenic routes, this iconic race continues to attract athletes of all levels.

The Bendigo Ford Fun Run returned to the streets of Bendigo on March 2, 2025, welcoming over 2,500 runners and walkers to celebrate fitness, community spirit, and giving back. Hosted at Rosalind Park, the event offered a variety of courses, from the 1km Kids Dash to the 21.1km Half Marathon, including exciting additions like the 3km Short Course and Hill Climb.

This event is quickly gaining recognition as one of Australia’s premier running events, attracting both casual participants and elite athletes. The Bendigo Health Foundation remains at the heart of the Fun Run, with proceeds supporting essential services like the Children’s Ward, Cardiology, Mental Health, and Cancer Wellness Centre.

Geoff O’Sullivan, event director at Rosalind Events, shared his excitement about the Fun Run’s growth: “With new events and updates to the course, this year is shaping up to be our biggest yet. We’re seeing more runners every year, and the support from the community has been incredible.”

The 2024 event crowned Australian marathon record-holder Andy Buchanan as its male champion. A Bendigo native, Buchanan finished with a stellar time, further solidifying his reputation as one of Australia’s top distance runners. Reflecting on his victory, he said, “Running on familiar streets, supported by my home community, is always a highlight.”

This year’s race drew runners through some of Bendigo’s most iconic landmarks, including Ulumbarra Theatre, the Queen Elizabeth Oval, and Rosalind Park. Acting director of the Bendigo Health Fundraising and Foundation Carlie Ryan emphasized the impact of the proceeds: “We’ve provided participants with more choice on where their funds go, allowing them to directly support causes they’re passionate about.”

Whether striving for a personal best or enjoying a relaxed walk through Bendigo’s CBD, every participant left with memories to cherish. The introduction of participant fundraising pages also amplified the event’s impact, with families and friends rallying to support their loved ones.
